W v tm 13 Chief meteorologist Jerry Tracy joined me tonight to give us an insight of how bad it could be tomorrow when it comes to the severe weather impact tomorrow. NO BREACHES of Viking Energy planning conditions have been detected which would âreasonably merit the wholesale suspension of construction workâ, councillors have been told.
In addition, the environmental measures currently in place do not justify suspension of the work either, according to Shetland Islands Councilâs development director Neil Grant.

But some calls were made in the chamber for greater independent scrutiny of the construction work.
It comes after campaign group Save Shetland petitioned the council earlier this year to request that construction work be halted amid concerns over the impact on the environment, and for more stringent independent monitoring to take place.

Showers and thunderstorms will return as we head into Wednesday and rain chances will continue into Thursday
THE FIRST ROUND OF STORMS
Two rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected on Wednesday. The first round will occur in the morning. If you are headed out the door in the early morning hours it will likely be stormy.
Showers and thunderstorms will start to become widespread and could produce dime to quarter size hail and heavy rainfall along with cloud-to-ground lightning.
There should be a drier period in the early afternoon hours before the second round of showers and thunderstorms develop in the mid-late afternoon and evening, some time after 4pm.

According to the press service of the emergency situations department, a section of the P-61 Timiryazevo-Sarykol (0-32km) highway has been closed starting from 8:00pm due to ground blizzard and lack of visibility in 50m which could cause road accidents.
Meteorologists have issued a storm alert for the region to be in effect on March 17-18, 2021. Fog as well as southwesterly wind, reaching 15-20mps here and there, is forecast.
